1-Helical gears come in a variety of forms, shapes and applications that extend far beyond the conventional spur gear that most people are familiar with. For example, helical gears are cylindrical-shaped gears with curved teeth which give a curved appearance.

2-The teeth of the helical gear teeth have a greater contact ratio because the angled teeth provide slower contact with less friction. These gears are perfect for applications requiring silence or for those who are sensitive to vibration. At the same time, helical gears can still transmit a large amount of power.

3-In addition, the spur gears are always loaded, but the helical gears mean less load on each tooth. This results in a softer transition of forces from one tooth to the other, thereby reducing vibrations, shock loads and wear.

The most common use for helical gears is in automotive transmissions.
