Spur Gear

Disadvantages of Flat Gear:

1. Spur gear drives are more expensive than belt drives.
2. They have a limited center distance.
3. The reason for this is that the gears are engaged in a straight gear drive and are in direct contact with each other.
4. The outer gears produce a lot of noise when operating at high speeds.
5. They cannot be used for long distance power transmission.
